Need an Official Docket or Record?
For a St. James Parish district-court case, begin with the St. James Parish Clerk of Court. The Clerk is the unified records counter for the parish side of the 23rd Judicial District Court. The official Clerk contact page lists the counter at 5800 LA Highway 44, 2nd Floor, Convent, LA 70723. Its mailing address is P.O. Box 63, Convent, LA 70723. Civil questions use 225-562-2270 or 225-562-2360; criminal questions use 225-562-2389 or 225-562-2271. The court's general published hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; those are court hours, not a confirmed counter cutoff.
- A public district-court docket: contact the applicable civil or criminal Clerk line and ask about public inspection or a copy request.
- A court date or setting: confirm it with the assigned 23rd JDC division or court coordinator as well as the docket. The Convent judge's-office receptionist is listed at 225-562-2280.
- A certified document: name the judgment, order, petition, or docket needed and ask the Clerk for the current certification fee and payment method.
- A Gramercy or Lutcher ticket: contact the town court channel named on the citation, because a mayor's-court record is separate from the district Clerk's docket.
- A justice-of-the-peace matter: contact the JP district that heard the limited-court case.
The Clerk's site does not advertise a general public civil or criminal web search. re:SearchLA can be tested as a statewide service, but St. James participation was not confirmed by the Clerk's official site. For the current official contact information, use the St. James Parish Clerk of Court contact page.
